It could have been a scene out of television series, CSI: Miami. Departing from what appeared to be a minor detail, a female prosecutor put forward the theory that a woman, whose cause of death, which was originally thought to be choking from a piece bread getting stuck in her throat, had actually fallen victim to a murder. It was stated that Selma K, a 50 year-old woman living in Ankara, died as a result of a piece of bread getting stuck in her throat. Prosecutor for the Republic Hatice Cetin noticed scratch marks on the dead woman's husband’s (Y.K.) face whilst carrying out an on-site investigation.

Prosecutor demands DNA test

The events that took place following this resembled the television detective series, CSI: Miami, where detectives unravel a murder mystery by concentrating on a minor detail. Prosecutor Hatice Cetin demanded a DNA test, and skin cells belonging to the victim’s husband were found between the victim’s nails.

Husband is arrested

“It was a perfect crime”, said the prosecutor. The husband had inserted just enough bread in the throat of the victim, who was incapable of looking after herself. Y.K. has been arrested with allegations of murder.
