Sezer Vetoed Soydas

President Ahmet Necdet Sezer vetoed the Cabinet decree, which proposed to appoint Abdullah Soydas, who is being tried on grounds that he looted the Interbank, as the President of the Deposit Insurance Fund (TMSF). A written statement issued by the Presidency stated that the decree of appointments to the Presidency, Second Presidency, and membership of TMSF was rejected because appointment of Abdullah Soydas and Ahmet Battal was not appropriate.Â
