Abdullatif Sener, the AKP Minister of State who once wrote a poem about wine even though he does not drink it, re-interpreted the poem as a call for calm in Anatolia. “I have thought over what I meant when I said that I knew everything about wine except for its taste. The wine in my statement represents a culture of tolerance in Anatolia”, he said.
When asked about recent charges from military leaders who say the country is being endangered by reactionary behaviour, Sener said that Turkey should seek to avoid all tension, and once again to his well-known statement about wine.
