"I was working as the principal clerk [for then Ankara Mayor Murat Karayalçın]. When Gökçek won the mayoral seat, the department’s 18 women, including me, were changed. We watered the parks and worked in greenhouses. Then we were dismissed," said Fatma Bozkurt Topçu, who served in 1994 as secretary for Murat Karayalçın, the Republican People’s Party, or CHP’s, mayoral candidate for Ankara. "In an effort to raise our voices, we went to the municipality building. Gökçek hadn’t come yet when a group of men with beards rushed the building and harassed us and I was thrown out a window by some of them. My ankle was like a broken airplane wing," she said.
The story was first disclosed when Karayalçın said in a television program that his secretary was thrown out a window by Gökçek’s team and that he would not do the same to Gökçek’s team if he was elected mayor. "I want Ankara citizens to know for whom and which mentality they are voting for," she said.
