ANTALYA - A forest fire which started in Antalya’s Finike district 4 days ago was brought under control, mainly thanks to heavy rain during the night.
Because the contracted time had ended, helicopters could not continue to fight the fire, leaving a 50 hectare area to burn. A team of 200 people, including forest workers and villagers, struggled to contain the fire.
Highlighting the fire had been contained, Hasan Ali Bulut, director of Finike Forest Management added, "a total area of 50 hectares was destroyed in the three day fire. Teams from Fethiye, Manavgat, Alanya and Kumluca arrived at the spot. A team of around 25 people will be on standby here until the smoke completely vanishes."
