ISTANBUL - Outlining their mission at the 5th World Water Forum in Istanbul yesterday, the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation said their three main concerns that require tangible action are climate change, the protection of biodiversity and water preservation.
Speaking on behalf of the foundation at a news conference held at the water forum, Prince Albert II of Monaco said innovative and ethical solutions need to be found in these three areas and that the interest needs to be one that goes beyond local levels.
Foundation member Bernaud Fautrier said the effects of climate change such as heat waves, floods and cyclones that are caused by anthropogenic activity are increasing. He highlighted that from 1996 to 2004, the number of endangered species in the world increased by 40 percent.
