PKK mine leaves three soldiers dead

Two non-commissioned officers and one private were killed by a mine trap laid out by the PKK in Diyarbakır.

The Security Forces started trace and search activities in Balaban Village in the District of Dicle. As the operation was taking place, PKK terrorists set off mines that had been placed in the pathway of the Turkish military. Non-commissioned officers Abdullah Şaştım and Mehmet Özdemir and Private Ayhan Güngör were killed in the explosion, while another sergeant and private were injured. The injured soldiers were taken by helicopter to Diyarbakır Military Hospital. A large-scale air-supported operation began in the area.
