PKK Leader: US-Turkish military operations to cause resistance

The leader of the organized terrorist group, the Kurdistan Worker's Party (PKK), has said that should Turkey launch a joint-military offensive in the north of Iraq with the US, it would court a disaster. Abdullah Ocalan said that it would cause harm to Turkey, reported AFP. Murat Karayilan, a senior PKK military commander and member of its collective leadership, said in an interview with the Kurdish news agency Firat that any attack would result in long-running resistance, according to the same source.

There are thought to be thousands of PKK terrorists hiding out in the north of Iraq, something that has been going on since 1999, say Turkish officials.
Washington has long been under pressure from Ankara to do something about the growing insurgency that seems to be crossing over into Turkish territories.
