Participating in beauty contest costs nurse job

ISTANBUL - A 22-year-old nurse has been fired by her employer for taking part in a beauty contest.
Ayça Kuru was dismissed from the Zeynep Kamil Gynecologic and Pediatric Training and Research Hospital, where she worked as a nurse, for registering to take part in the Miss Turkey contest.
An İzmir resident, Kuru is among the 20 finalists in the Miss Turkey contest, which is scheduled to be held tonight at Istanbul’s Maslak TİM Show Center. Kuru has taken theater acting lessons and dreams of landing a role in an adventure movie some day.
The winner of the Miss Turkey contest will represent the country at the Miss World pageant, while the second- and third-place finishers will represent the country at the Miss Universe and Miss Europe contests, respectively.
