The proposal, which was finalized with contribution from female deputies of the Justice and Development Party, or AKP, the Republican People’s Party, or CHP, the Democratic Society Party, or DTP, and the Democratic Left Party, was prepared in line with European Union regulations and the European Convention of Human Rights.

The new committee will work to increase the participation of women in the country's development and remove barriers that derive from gender inequalities.

Specialized body
The committee will serve as a "specialized body" and will be comprised of 25 members. Deputies who stand out for previous work on gender equality will be given priority for membership to the committee. The committee will be officially approved after a discussion in the general assembly.
