ISTANBUL - As Gaja, the restaurant/bar with Istanbul’s most beautiful spots under one’s feet, welcomes the summer, Swissotel The Bosphorus Istanbul is certain its guests will be able to enjoy the flavor of the food, taste of cocktails, and view of the breathtaking metropolis.

Istanbul on a clear night is one of the most magical cities in the world. Spending an evening among the stars and close to the moon makes everything even more enchanting.

One of the best places to enjoy Istanbul’s nighttime magic is Gaja. Well above the city landscape with an unforgettable panoramic view that sweeps from the old city and Topkapi Palace to the second Bosphorus Bridge, Gaja is both an elite restaurant and a bar. It takes its name from a Sanskrit word symbolizing fertility although the Greek name for the goddess of earth, Gaea, might do such as well.

The "Sky Bar" has an acclaimed staff and excellent service in addition to its extraordinary cocktails. How about a strawberry margarita or a watermelon martini? Or possibly your taste fancies something with lime such as a sparkling kiwi caipirinha or a kumquat caipiroska? Of course, there are other more conventional drinks to be had if your taste doesn’t run to the exotic. Or perhaps your fancy is a good wine? The Gaja Sky Bar offers a select wine menu and tasty snacks to go along with them. The Gaja Restaurant offers specialties prepared under the supervision of chef de cuisine Murat Karaduman.

While away your time from 11 p.m. until the wee hours of the morning listening to live DJ lounge entertainment provided by Suat Ateşdağlı and his team. Ateşdağlı has been involved with DJing since 1983. He set up S&S Musicmaker Organization, the first group to offer professional DJ services in Turkey. He started working as a DJ as Moda 29 and since 2001, he has been the DJ at Reina. Swissotel has actually produced an attractive booklet in Turkish and English with the special cocktails offered at Gaja, including their recipes, and a CD containing the many sound tracks offered by the DJ.

Swissotel Director of Operations Stefan Winistoerfer predicts that guests will enjoy "a summer full of gourmet flavors and elegant nightlife" in the Gaja Restaurant and Sky Bar. Judging on past experience, he is speaking nothing less than the truth.
