ANKARA - Ankara’s Coconot Cafe, well known for its steaks, is now cozier and more elegant after a renovation process. Its newly opened bar Georgette is home to those who like having a drink in a unique atmosphere after a busy day. The restaurant also launched a new presentation style inspired by Brazilian cuisine.
The capital’s five-year-old venue, Coconot Cafe, has started to welcome its guests with into its new decoration, which is cozier and more elegant. Having undergone renovation, Coconot currently not only serves in its restaurant but also from its new bar, Georgette, which is home to those who like having a drink in a unique atmosphere after a busy day.
The union of elegance and comfort is the thing what makes Georgette Bar different. White bar stools harmonize with wood-based decoration to offer a classy appearance while comfortable armchairs, large windows and wooden coffee tables warm the atmosphere, making one feel at home.
"We enlarged our venue and placed the Georgette in it. However, we did not increase the seat capacity, so it became more spacious," the owner of the Coconot, Suat Başar, said, adding that the kitchen of the restaurant was turned into an open one to remove the doubts about hygiene. Besides decoration, Coconot has also made some little changes to its cuisine, but preserved its traditional tastes.
"Firstly, we started to cook meat on oak charcoal, which is the highest quality. Generally, meat is cooked on gas grills. We adjust the cooking period of the meat according to our guest’s desire. This is one of the most important things that we pay attention to," Başar told.
Further, Coconot launched a new presentation style inspired by Brazilian cuisine. The shurasko-style limitless menu is served from midday to 3 p.m. In this style, the service starts with a bowl of soup. Later salad and meat with the accompaniment of fresh garnishes are served. "Our customers may order more of what he likes and eat until he is full," Başar said.
Popular for its steaks
The restaurant is well known for its steaks by its frequenters and is one of the best in the capital for steak, Başar said. Indeed, Coconot guarantees a filling and delicious meal with its 400-gram steaks.
Başar completes the restaurant’s home-like atmosphere when he enters the kitchen to cook Coconot’s special tastes himself. "I love cooking as the owner of the restaurant and cook meals for my special guests myself," Başar said, adding that Coconot’s menu is based on Başar’s own cooking experience.
"I adapted different tastes of world cuisines to Turkish taste and created the menu in line with this. Here, I serve my 15-year experience under the brand of Coconot."
