Should we call ourselves "lucky" or "idiotic" I wonder? We just aren't sure these days. Instead of deciding right now, let's take a brief look at the indident which took place on an Istanbul IETT city bus which was carrying judges and prosecutors to their workplaces the other day. But before doing so, we have to state a truth: Luck may save the idiotic ones in this life, but only once or twice. After that, the price paid for idiocy can be very high.
In any case, let's move on to take a look at the specific incident. The driver of a bus which had picked up large group of judges and prosecutors from their homes to bring them to courts in Sisli and Beyoglu stopped on his way to another job in Gaziosmanpasa, and found a packet wrapped in a plastic bag. The bag was under a seat near the middle doors. A team called to the site discovered the bag contained a bomb with 920 grams of A4 explosive, wired to be detonated by a cell phone. The only thing that had saved the judges and prosecutors on their way to work was that the battery of the cell phone was dead. Well, glad we got through that one, but what we really have to get through is this casual attitude towards these incidents.
Because terror has come down from the mountains and entered the city. Alright, so we all know that. But what we really have to move away from is this mentality of "fatalism," the same thing which keeps us from preparing for the big earthquake they say will hit Istanbul one of these days.
We are in a period now where the inspection of all crowded transportation vehicles and areas is simply a requirement. Everyone must understand that there is no one and nowhere which "has no link to terrorism and its effects."
