A radio exchange shortly before the crash of a Turkish airlines flight does not reveal anything unusual.

Former Delta Air Lines captain Joe Mazzone says everything appeared normal. Mazzone reviewed the recording posted by Web site LiveATC.net, which captures air traffic exchanges by monitoring scanners near airports.

He says the plane was given clearance to descend to 7,000 feet.

Mazzone says the last thing heard on the 52-second recording is the controllers giving the tower frequency to the pilots and instructing them to get clearance to land.

Approach Control said: Turkish 1951 contact the tower 11827 bye bye.

The pilot replied: Thank You, sir.

Mazzone says the point where the transmission ended would likely have been two to four minutes before landing.
