ISTANBUL - The Turkish housing administration on Friday made a public call to potential bidders to send in their offers to construct a renewed Galatasaray sports complex tender.
The Housing Development Administration of Turkey, or TOKİ, earlier this week annulled a contract to construct a sports complex for the Turkcell Super League giant
Galatasaray in the Seyrantepe neighborhood of Istanbul.
The administration decided to cancel the tender for the contractor that has not fulfilled its obligations within the period given by TOKİ.
In an advertisement that appeared in Turkish newspapers Friday, TOKİ said the deadline to send in bids to complete the Seyrantepe stadium project is July 17. Firms considered eligible for the job will be invited to announce their bids in a tender open to public. The bidding is open to local and international firms and their ventures with other construction firms or finance companies. The bids will be submitted in Turkish.
The foundation of the new sports complex was laid on December 13, 2007. The Eren Talu-Alke firm committed to build the complex within 24 months, but the complex is only 24 percent built.
