ISTANBUL - Famous British coffee chain, Costa Coffee, which operates more than 1,000 stores in 26 countries, will open its first store in Istanbul's Palladium Shopping Mall on Saturday. After the opening, another store will follow on Teşvikiye Street in Nişantaşı.

Costa, one of the world’s leading coffee shop chains, is ready to introduce its unique coffee blend to Turkey and open their first store at Palladium Mall in Istanbul on Saturday.

The country’s debut Costa Coffee Shop has been made possible by a franchise agreement between Costa’s owner, Whitbread PLC, which is Britain’s leading hospitality company, and the International Food Company, a subsidiary of Americana.

"We are very excited about opening in Turkey," said Andy Marshall, Costa’s international franchise director. "There are lots of highly sophisticated and discerning coffee lovers here, so we feel it is the right time to introduce Costa’s special Italian blend of coffee and stylish stores. Our partners, International Food Company, have vast experience in the region and we are delighted to be working with them," he said.

The first Costa Coffee was opened in London by Italian brothers Sergio and Bruno Costa in 1971. Their small family business was bought by Whitbread in 1995 and has since grown to over 1,200 stores in 26 countries, but still remains true to its Italian heritage.

The company has built its reputation on the taste of its coffee and the quality of the food and service it provides.

Kılıç Arslantürk, managing director of the International Food Company said, "The local coffee shop market is thriving and exciting. Our expertise in food and drink retailing, together with the proven popularity of the Costa brand, means we will be leading the way, providing consumers with unbeatable coffee and food in the relaxed and sophisticated surroundings for which we know they are searching."

Kılıç said the International Food Company saw this Costa opening as the first of many in Turkey and were committed to introducing the Costa brand around the country.
