Nearly 60 countries to come together in Turkey in a fair

A Turkish Aegean province will bring together almost 60 countries in an international fair, mayor said on Friday.

Mayor Aziz Kocaoglu of Aegean province of Izmir said the city would bring together 1,100 firms from almost 60 countries in this year's Izmir International Fair.

"19 different types of products will be on display at the fair between August 22 and 31," mayor Kocaoglu told a press conference.Izmir is hosting the fair for the 77th time this year.

Cuba will be the honorary guest country, and the theme of this year's fair will be global warming and climate change.

There will also be beach volley tournament, yachting competition, music and dance shows during the fair. These festival activities will be launched on August 20.

Izmir International Fair, welcoming almost 60 countries, 1000 companies and 1,5 million visitors every year, provides an environment which domestic and foreign exhibitors promote new technologies and exhibit new products and businessmen meet.

The fair also presents social, cultural events and entertainment as a whole together with its industrial and commercial dimension.

Last year, the Izmir International Fair was held between August 31 and September 10. There were 1,091 exhibitors, including 815 domestic and 276 foreign. Nearly one and a half million people visited the fair opened on about 72,000 sqm. of area. Ukraine was the guest country of honor of the fair in which 59 countries participated.
