ISTANBUL - Orka Textile, the Turkish fashion firm, has launched a new spill-resistant collection of men’s shirts.

The collection of white shirts for Damat, Tween and ADV brands is manufactured using nanotechnology and "nanocare" fabric. Due to the nanotechnology and microcapsules used in the production of the fabric, the new shirts resist wine, tea, coffee and oil stains.

Süleyman Orakçıoğlu, chairman of Orka Textile, which owns the Damat, Tween and ADV brands, said the firm’s research and development have worked on developing the new cotton-based fabric for two years. "We could say the production cost of the new shirts is about two times that of regular shirts, the total cost being the same as launching a whole new brand," he said.

Damat, Tween and ADV hope to double their sales of white shirts with the new product. "White shirts make some 30 to 35 percent of our total sales volume," Orakçıoğlu said. Orka Textile’s annual sales of shirts in all its outlets stand at some 300,000 a year.

"White shirts make some 30 to 35 percent of this depending on the season," Orakçıoğlu said.

The new shirts are produced at Orka Textile’s factory in the town of Giresun in the Black Sea region. The factory was founded in 2005.
