ISTANBUL - World famous Finnish baritone, Tom Krause, will teach a master’s class at the Ankara State Opera and Ballet.
As part of the "Music Bridge" project, which was organized by the Finnish Embassy in collaboration with Savonlinna Music Academy and the Ankara State Opera and Ballet, Krause will be in Turkey from March 19 to 31. He will perform a concert at the end of the 10-day master’s course. The classes will include eight musicians.
Savonlinna Music Academy trainer Eija Tolpo will accompany Krause. The other eight participating musicians selected two Turkish musicians to go to Finland to take masters' courses at the Savonlinna Opera Festival in the summer.
Savonlinna Music Academy has a similar collaboration with Cairo State Opera and Ballet and aims to collaborate with the Istanbul and İzmir State Opera and Ballets.
The mastermind of the Turkey-Finland Music Bridge is well-known Finnish pianist and conductor Ralf Gothoni. The project, which is also supported by former Finnish president Martthi Ahtisaari, is sponsored by President Abdullah Gül’s wife, Hayrünisa Gül.
Tom Krause
Tom Krause received his training in Helsinki, and later at the Vienna Music Academy and then in Berlin. Since his debut in Berlin in 1957, he has established himself as a leading baritone with a vast repertoire.
