ISTANBUL - Famous Mexican actor Gael Garcia Bernal will visit the Marmara city of Bursa to attend the Third International Bursa Silk Road Film Festival to be held from Nov. 28 to Dec. 4.
Bernal is one of the stars of "Blindness," an adaptation of the 1995 novel of the same name by Jos Saramago, which is about a society suffering a blindness epidemic, to be shown in the Panorama section of the festival. He also portrays revolutionary Che Guevara in "Chevolution," to be screened in the Contradictory Facts section of the same festival and will attend the opening ceremony as producer of the award winning
film "Cochochii," which will be shown in the festival’s First Movies by Future Masters section. Bernal, who was selected as one of the eight most handsome men in the world, in a poll in Britain, will also celebrate his birthday Nov. 30 at the festival.
Bernal has worked for acclaimed directors Pedro Almod?var, Walter Salles, Alfonso Cuar?n, Alejandro Gonz?lez I??rritu and Michel Gondry. He has recently taken on roles in English language films, including Gondry’s "The Science of Sleep," Alejandro Gonz?lez I??rritu’s "Babel," and "The King," for which he earned rave reviews. He was nominated for a BAFTA in 2005 for Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role for "The Motorcycle Diaries," and in 2006 was nominated for the Orange Rising Star award, which acknowledges new talent in the acting industry.
