ISTANBUL - A cargo ship ran aground along the shores of the Bosphorus on Istanbul’s European side when it experienced a technical malfunction Tuesday.
The empty dry-cargo ship, which was traveling from Israel to Ukraine, started drifting after a malfunction and ran aground after brushing past Bosphorus mansions in Anadolu Hisarı at 8:55 a.m., according to the Coast Guard.
Four vessels were dispatched to rescue the 94-meter long vessel, the İlke Mete, which had a crew of 15 on board.
