CLEVELAND - Finance Minister Kemal Unakıtan, 62, underwent a coronary artery bypass operation earlier this week, and his health is improving, according to an official at the Cleveland Clinic in the United States, where he is being treated.
"I can confirm that the minister's operation took place on Monday and he is doing well," Brian Kolonick, a public relations officer for the clinic, told the Hürriyet Daily News & Economic Review on Thursday.
Health issues are considered private matters in U.S. hospitals, but Unakıtan's family allowed a formal announcement on the minister's heath situation, sources said.
