Mehmet Y. Yilmaz: What does the DTP have to say about the Ankara minibus

The minibus loaded with explosives, which was discovered in an Ankara parking lot two days ago, may be a good opportunity to have a question which some of us carry inside ourselves to be answered.

Here is the question: Would a minibus which exploded, killing and injuring regular people, even children, be counted as a terrorist act, or not?

Would you call someone who carried out such an act a terrorist, or not?

Yesterday I did some research on the internet of the definition of "terrorism." I read international accords on the definition of this term, perused various states' security units' definitions of what can and can't be labeled "terrorism."

And yes, in every area of the world, such an action would in fact be called "terrorism."

Right now, Turkish police are guessing that the bomb-loaded minibus was going to be used in a PKK action.

This could be true, or it could have also been the planned terror act of another group. This is something we will only learn through careful investigations.

But during this time, it would be especially helpful if the DTP Party would ask themselves these questions, and share their answers with the people of the country.

Since they are not prepared to "call their siblings terrorists," and since the suspects in this act which very nearly occured are not yet clear, the DTP should be able to label what it would have been had it been carried out.

They need to share with the public whether or not they condemn the very attempt to carry out this act.

I am waiting to hear some answers from them. Yes, Ahmet and Aysel, and Sabahat, the time has come to hear from you.
