BERLIN - Hollywood sweetheart Meg Ryan has won a German lifetime achievement award for best international actress and will pick up the statuette at a gala ceremony November 27, organisers said Monday.
The Hubert Burda Media group, which has given out the gongs since 1948, called Ryan the "queen of the romantic comedy" who had "made
film history" with her faked orgasm in a packed deli in the 1989 hit "When Harry Met Sally."
"Meg Ryan is among the most attractive, talented and successful female stars that Hollywood ever produced," the Munich-based Burda said in a statement."Her smile is irresistible, her comedic talent delightful and her performance in 'When Harry Met Sally' unforgettable."
Ryan, who will turn 47 on Wednesday, starred in a string of blockbusters in the 1980s and 1990s also including "Top Gun" and "Sleepless in Seattle."She is currently appearing in "The Women," a Mick Jagger-produced chick flick in which she plays a high-living society wife who finds her marriage falling apart.
