A tired Milan team gave the final match of the European Championship League to the stubborn and hungry team of Liverpool. The British team took the match in penalty shots, with a final score of 6-5. This was Liverpool's fifth time winning the cup. The action began immediately after the starting whistle, with Milan's Maldini scoring a goal in the 57th second of the game.
Next, Crespo made a goal, bringing Milan's advantage to 2-0. And again Crespo, this time in the 43rd minute, kicked the ball in, with the score at the half time coming to 3-0, Milan winning. But everything changed in the second half. In between the 54-60 minute range, Liverpool players Gerrard, Smicer and Alonso made goals which between them brought Liverpool up from behind to a 3-3 score. When the match was lengthened 11 minutes, Milan was already tired. But both teams fought and neither scored in those 11 minutes. And in the final penalty shots, it was Liverpool players Hamann, Cisse, and Smicer whose kicks brought -the Championship League cup to England with a 6-5 score.
