ISTANBUL - Galatasaray will look to continue its string of games against Ankara sides with a victory over Gençlerbirliği tonight in the first game of Turkcell Super League’s week number 15.

The Lions, who are dwelling in the third spot, four points behind leader Trabzonspor, have been playing teams from the capital city for three weeks.

The series of four games started with a goalless draw against solid Ankaraspor on Nov. 22 and continued with two successive victories. Galatasaray beat Hacettepe 3-1 at its own Ali Sami Yen Stadium on Nov. 30, and last Sunday saw coach Michael Skibbe’s team grab an easy 3-0 victory at Ankaraspor.

As it wants to cap this run with another victory in Ankara, Galatasaray has many assets to count on, especially its rising form. During the five-game period of league and cup games, following the 4-1 demolition at the hands of Fenerbahçe, Galatasaray has only dropped two points and conceded one goal.

Furthermore, Galatasaray has a historic dominance over Gençlerbirliği. Galatasaray won seven of the last ten games against the Ankara side, winning the last five.

However, missing star winger Harry Kewell to injury and play-maker captain Ayhan Akman due to a yellow card suspension may hurt Galatasaray’s chances.

On the other hand, Gençlerbirliği came out of the relegation zone with a long-sought victory last week. The Red-Blacks remembered their winning ways after seven weeks when they beat fellow Ankara team Hacettepe 3-0.

The game kicks off at 8:00 p.m.
