The trial of the November 17 terrorist organization, which is famous for its attacks on Turkish and American diplomats in Greece, resulted in record-level punishments. 6 convicts received lifetime prison sentences 55 times. The fact that those, who are sentenced to lifetime imprisonment, can be released conditionally after 20 years, generated a controversy in Greece. According to some attorneys these punishments had only symbolic meaning. The leader of the organization, Aleksander Yotopulos, received lifetime prison sentence for 21 times. Dimitris Kufodinas, the chief hit man of the organization was also sentenced to lifetime imprisonment, this time, for 13 times. S.Ksiros who was the trigger man of the killing of Turkish diplomat Sipahioglu apologized one day before the verdict, saying that “I apologize for the grief I caused.” Ksiros received 25 years in prison.
