ISTANBUL - Fenerbahçe looks to secure the fourth and final ticket into the Fortis Turkish Cup semifinals, as it takes on Bursaspor tonight. The Yellow Canaries traveled to Bursa with a 1-0 advantage from the first game but it still needs to overcome its dubious form.
Fenerbahçe were unable to manage a win in its last two league games, with draws against Trabzonspor and Gaziantepspor. However, unlike its usually terrible domestic cup reputation, Fenerbahçe, which is yet to win the trophy since the 1981-1982 season, is doing great in the cup.
Luis Aragones’ team won all four of its group games in the cup without conceding a single goal, and extended its streak to five games after the first leg game. Fener beat Bursa three times this year, twice in the cup and once in the league.
However, Bursaspor relies on its successful home performance, ofonly two defeats in 13 games this year. Given that they beat Galatasaray and Trabzonspor at their
Atatürk Stadium while holding
Beşiktaş to a draw, the Crocs hope that they can maintain their big-game performance against Fener, who hopes to end a 27-year drought.
