Three people were killed in Istanbul when a bus driver reversed his bus onto a pavement. The crowded passenger bus was under attack by a group of men who hurled petrol bombs at it, while shouting PKK slogans according to eye-witness reports. The blazing bus ran over a group of pedestrians when it reversed onto the pavement in the Istanbul suburb of Bagcilar on Sunday. These deaths are the latest in the violence that is sweeping the southeast of Turkey - a total of 12 people have died.
At least two of those who died were elderly women and another woman is in a serious condition, police said.
Kurdish terrorists are thought to have stopped the bus and attacked it in the Bagcilar district of Istanbul.
The violence that has erupted in Turkey in the mostly Kurdish southeast of the country is entering its seventh day.
The riots were sparked in the city of Diyarbakir by funerals for 14 PKK terrorists who were killed by Turkish troops last week.
Thousands of Kurds have rampaged across the southeast, attacking police with stones and gasoline bombs, and setting buses, banks and vehicles on fire.
Kurdish rebels have been fighting for autonomy in Turkey's southeast since 1984. More than 37,000 people have died in the violence.
