Korean-led groupwins $2.5 bln order

SEOUL - A consortium led by Korea Electric Power Corp. has won an order to build a $2.5 billion thermal power plant in Saudi Arabia, the state-run utility firm said yesterday.

The consortium set up by Korea Electric and Saudi Arabia's ACWA will build the 1,200-megawatt plant in Rabigh, 150 kilometers (94 miles) north of Jeddah, the Korean firm said.
Earlier this month the Korean utility signed a tentative deal to build a $500 million nuclear power plant in Jordan.
