The monument of Armenian musicologist and composer Komitas was inaugurated in Paris on April 24, the so-called genocide anniversary. Paris Mayor Bertrand Delanoe, who made an address in the inauguration of the monument, said that; This monument represents 1.5 million Armenians who were subjected to genocide, but 20th century’s Turkey and Turks can not be declared responsible for this.

Foreign Ministry statement
The Foreign Ministry issued a written statement on Thursday, reacting at the Armenian monument erected in Paris, saying that, "It is very sad that, the Turco-French relations which have a long past and could not still get rid of the negative impact of the so-called Armenian genocide law passed in 2001, were allowed to be kept under such a shadow in line with the policies of third parties which twist the history. We expect from the French Government to show the necessary sensitivity to avoid keeping Turco-French affairs under these types of negative influences."
