ANKARA - An unemployed man, who wanted to enter the parliamentary compound yesterday to ask for a job but was not let in, created chaos when he claimed to be a suicide bomber.
Known as only M.Ç., described as in his forties, traveled from Istanbul to Ankara in the hope of talking to the deputies before the Justice and Development Party, or AKP’s, group meeting yesterday.
However, security forces did not allow M.Ç. to enter Parliament on the grounds that he had no appointment. When rejected, M.Ç. claimed that he had a bomb on his person.
He was immediately detained. A police search reveled no explosives on his body.
The individual was then taken to the nearby Çankaya Police Station.
