Jet crashes, pilot killed

ANKARA - A Turkish military airplane crashed while on a training flight in central Turkey yesterday, killing one of the two pilots, Anatolia news agency reported.

The other pilot survived the accident with injuries and was taken to hospital, residents of Ayışığı village in Konya province, near where the plane crashed, told Anatolia. The cause of the accident was not immediately known.
Konya is home to a large military base, and the airspace over the province's vast plains is used for training flights. The Aegean is used to mock dogfights between Greek and Turkish fighter jets.
