ISTANBUL - French actress Jeanne Moreau will play in "The War of the Sons of Light against the Sons of Darkness" at the International Istanbul Theater Festival on July 31 and August 1.

French, Greek, Spanish, Israeli and Palestinian actors and actresses, as well as Turkish player Cüneyt Türel, will act in the play at Istanbul's Rumeli Hisarı.

The play’s gala was at the Avignon Festival in France on July 7. It will continue to take stage in the festival until July 13 and will be staged in the Barcelona Grec Festival on July 17-18, and Athens-Epidaurus Festival on July 24-25.

The last stop of the play will be Istanbul. Following that, "The War of the Sons of Light against the Sons of Darkness" will be performed at Paris' Odeon Theater in January 2010.

Directed by Amos Gitai, this theatrical performance of spoken and sung oratorio borrows for the most part from The War of the Jews, where the historian Flavius Joseph tells the story of the destruction of the Jewish sovereignty by the Roman Empire during the first century B.C.

Born in 1928, Jeanne Moreau is a French actress, screenwriter and director. Moreau made her theatrical debut in 1947 and established herself as one of the leading actresses of the ComŽdie-Française. She began playing small roles in films in 1951 and over the following decade achieved success as the star of several popular films, including "Elevator to the Gallows" (1958), directed by Louis Malle. "Jules et Jim" (1962), directed by Francois Truffaut, was her most successful international film.

Moreau is the recipient of a CŽsar Award for Best Actress, a BAFTA Award for Best Foreign Actress, a Cannes Film Festival Best Actress Award for individual performances, and several lifetime awards.
