Istanbul travel more expensive

ISTANBUL - Istanbul’s streets were a scene of confusion as the city’s public transport authority hiked fares yesterday but failed to announce the increase to the public prior to the change.
The 15 percent hike took effect yesterday, but the public became aware of the change only while attempting to board buses and metrobuses. The Istanbul Electric Tramway and Tunnel Works Department increased Istanbul’s bus and metrobus fares from 1.30 to 1.50 Turkish Liras, while also hiking fares for other modes of transport.
