Istanbul pictures exhibition opens in Germany

Essen, GERMANY – The Turkish Consulate General in Essen and the Duisburg-Essen University collaborated on a photography exhibition titled “Istanbul Photographs,” which opened Friday in the university’s Studentenwerk building.

The exhibition was organized to celebrate Germany’s Ruhr basin and Istanbul’s status as European Capital of Culture in 2010. Turkey’s Essen Consul General Hakan Akbulut said they saw the European Capital of Culture project as an opportunity to collaborate between the two communities.
