Istanbul Modern to host kids on April 23

ISTANBUL - The Istanbul Modern Art Museum will organize the 4th Children’s Festival from April 22 to 25 between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. Children will be able to join three different activities, which are "Matisse-Picasso," "Puppets Workshop" and "Design in Museum."
During the 4th Children Festival, Pizza Pizza will set up a stand in the garden of the museum and distribute pizza, balloons and hats to children from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. Also, beverage companies Coca-Cola, Cappy, Turkuaz and Nesquik will give all children products during the event.
In Matisse-Picasso, which is new interactive education series of Young Istanbul Modern, children will find out similarities and differences between two artists Henri Matisse and Pablo Picasso in playing areas designed like the artists’ ateliers. During the activities, observing the works of both artists first, children will draw paintings using thick plasters and create compositions.
In the Puppet Workshop, children will visit the exhibition "In Praise of Shadows" to see the effects of traditional shadow theater on contemporary art and they will design their own puppets. They will also see various types of puppets like finger or shadow puppets and learn the creation process behind making puppets.
The Design in Museum activity will enable children to visit the exhibition "Modern Experiences," and create designs before the artworks. They will also learn about Turkish art and artists thanks to the exhibition. The activity will turn the exhibition halls of the museum into a workshop area.
