ISTANBUL - Istanbul Modern Museum, celebrating its fifth anniversary in 2009, will offer unforgettable exhibitions for art lovers throughout the year. The exhibition "In Praise of Shadows," which brings together the works by eight artists and two filmmakers from seven counties, will be on display until May 6.
Following the exhibition, a new exhibition, "Five Realistic Turkish Painters," will feature works of five leading Turkish painters; Cihat Burak, Neşet Günal, Nedim Günsür, Nuri İyem and Turgut Zaim. This is the first time the works of these renown painters will be exhibited together.
As part of the 11th International Istanbul Biennial to be held from Sept. 12 to Nov. 8, the Istanbul Modern will host the exhibition "Sarkis," by the artist of the same name, a leader in the field of installation art. This will be the most comprehensive exhibition the museum will have held for a living artist. The exhibition will display the 50-year professional life of the artist.
