As part of “Integration Week,” the exhibition opened at Hafenmuseum gallery and also includes many Turkish and German artists.
Praising Maga’s works, Hafenmuseum official Claudia Seidel Seidel said his love of Istanbul had increased with the opening of the exhibition.
Bremen Turkish Academics’ Union President Rıfat Hatunoğlu said Maga, in addition to participating in exhibitions throughout the world, had written more than 30 books on various topics. “Maga started taking photos at the age of 16 and became interested in journalism in his 20s. He also works as a publisher,” he said.
Maga said it was privilege to visit Istanbul which he described as one of the most attractive cities in the world, adding, “Istanbul is a city of culture and history, comparable to Rome. It will become the 2010 European Capital of Culture and that is why my current exhibition is aimed at creating an interest among the public in the city of Istanbul.”
The exhibition, displaying 58 photos, will be open until Jan. 4, 2009, then travel to other German and European cities before meeting the art lovers of Istanbul in 2010, under the title “Maga-Istanbul.”
