Antalya hoteliers have called on Israeli tourists to leave politics aside and said they were always welcome in Turkey.

On Monday, Israel-based Web site Ytnews, www.ytnews.com, published a story about Israelis’ concerns over anti-Israel sentiments that swept the country following Israel's Gaza operation. The Web site suggested Israelis were reconsidering Antalya as their top tourism choice and were seeking new locations.

Ytnews, however, released another story yesterday that reported local hoteliers’ call to Israelis.

"Responding to reports that Israeli tourists planned on boycotting Turkish destinations, several resort managers called on Israelis to reconsider their decision," the Web site reported.

Ytnews also quoted the manager of the Limak Limra Hotel in Antalya as saying: "The years-long relations between us and Israel must not end in one day and certainly not over political statements. We are not at war with Israel and we have been working together for so many years. Leave politics aside, what you see on television and hear on the news is not the reality here."

More peace sentiments were echoed by the general manager of Spice Hotel in the town. "There are no security problems here and we have no connection to the political issues," the Web site quoted the general manager as saying. "You are welcome here anytime. As far as we are concerned nothing has changed. Antalya is a safe place and Israelis are as welcome here as any other guest."

"We really miss Israelis, you have nothing to fear from us," he added.
