It is usual that close countries like Turkey and Israel could have different views on some issues, Gabby Levy told a press conference in Ankara on Friday, a day after the Davos crisis in which Turkish Minister Tayyip Erdogan stormed out of a heated debate on the Gaza war with Israel's President Shimon Peres.

"Even the closest and most friendliest countries in the world, such as Turkey and Israel, have from time to time misunderstandings and disagreements," he said.

Such differences provide an incentive in terms of bilateral relations, he added.  Â

He said Turkey and Israel are passing through a difficult period, but added that both countries have overcome similar spats in the past.

"It is in the interest of both countries to start trying to calm down and move forward," he also said.

Erdogan walked off the stage in the panel on Thursday after he was cut off by a moderator as he was responding to Peres's remarks.
