Iranian Foreign Minister Monacher Mottaki, who was in Ankara for an official visit yesterday, received messages about democracy and reform from his Turkish counterpart, Foreign Minister Abdullah Gul. Said Gul, "The accession talks with the EU do not mean that we have forgotten about our neighbors. To the contrary, we will be more interested than ever in our region."
Referring to recent steps taken in Turkey on subjects like democracy, reform implementation, human rights and the supremacy of justice, Gul noted: "Actually, all of these elements are present in our religion. Maybe even more so that in the EU. We did everything at our own incentive."
