ISTANBUL - Indie-rock singer Will Oldham will show off his expressive and soothing voice when he comes to Istanbul for the third time. Oldham last performed in Cemal Reşit Rey Concert Hall in the beginning of 2007.
This time the charismatic musician will be on stage at Istanbul’s popular performance stage Babylon on Sunday as part of the tour for his new album "Beware."
Interpreting traditional country music to indie-rock, his songs are mostly about feelings such as, longing, love and sin.
Oldham goes by the moniker Bonnie "Prince" Billy, which he chose as a mixture between Bonnie Prince Charlie and Billy Bonney, otherwise known as Billy the Kid.
Bonnie ’Prince’ Billy is considered as one of the most important poet-singers. His fans include famous names such as Björk and Nick Cave. Oldham, who has used various names, Palace, Push, and Palace Brothers, has produced 15 albums since 1993. He decided on his latest name Bonnie "Prince" Billy in 1998.
The talented musician from Louisville, Kentucky, has worked with a considerable amount of important musicians and bands such as Slint, David Pajo, Tortoise and Matt Sweeney.
Besides visiting Turkey twice already, Oldham also wears a Turkish flag t-shirt in the music video for his song "I am Goodbye."
