ISTANBUL - Targeting to help companies slash costs and lead investments to the right direction, International Business Machines, or IBM, one of the world’s leading technology companies, is assisting corporations that are especially under pressure by the current economic crisis.

Eliminating the complicated IT processes in the company networks, the Lotus software of IBM, which delivers a robust collaboration medium that empowers people to connect, collaborate, and innovate while optimizing the workplace, enables the companies to fully concentrate to their business instead of wasting time by dealing with organizing different IT processes.

Lotus Foundations Start, a component of the software, assists the companies through centralizing the electronic mailing, file sharing and back-up processes of the corporations under a single framework in order to save time and money.

Moreover, realizing the importance of the collaboration and communication among business circles, IBM provides an opportunity for companies to organize a communication network with their clients, partners and employees with lower costs through Lotus Complete Collaboration Express Starting Pack.

This can be called "a corporate Facebook," Uffe Sorensen, IBM Software Group Lotus Messaging & Collaboration director, responsible for Northeast Europe, Middle East and Central and Eastern Africa regions, told journalists in Istanbul Friday.

"The office software represents a large market in today’s world. As IBM, we are aware of the hardships companies are enduring amid the global economic turmoil and are developing cost-effective and useful software that reduce the costs and save time," Sorensen said.

Speaking at the same meeting, IBM Lotus Turkey Product Manager Ülkü Ceylan said the U.S. firm plans to organize its annual "Lotusphere" meeting this year in Istanbul on May 7.
