ISTANBUL - Many people came together in Taksim on Saturday and created a "human chain" by linking hands to raise awareness about the murder case of Armenian journalist Hrant Dink.

The group calls itself "Friends of Hrant Dink." Members said they would gather in Beşiktaş on July 6, the trial date for the murder case, the private news channel CNNTürk reported yesterday.

Istanbul independent deputy Ufuk Uras said the situation was a shameful one. "Late-coming justice is not justice," he said.

Members of Friends of Hrant Dink said waiting in front of the court that is hearing the case of his murder is the same as waiting for the future of the country. Group members are scheduled to meet at Beşiktaş Square at 10:00 a.m. on Monday during the trial of Dink’s murder case. The former editor in chief of daily Agos, Dink was gunned down Jan. 19, 2007, in front of his office in central Istanbul by a young man named Ogün Samast. Dink was born and lived in Turkey.
