Guardian warns: Turkey needs to speed up reforms

The British Guardian newspaper has carried an article noting that the EU Commission is expected next week to warn Turkey that it has slowed down reforms on human rights and religious freedoms to an unacceptable level.

The article in the Guardian touches especially on the Orhan Pamuk case, noting that EU Commissioner for Expansion, Olli Rehn, is particularly worried about infractions against human rights inherent in the Pamuk situation.
Interestingly, the Guardian article also carried pictures shot during October 29 Republic Day celebrations in Turkey, with military helicopters decorated with flags and guns.
