MUĞLA - In Muğla's Dalyan town, part of the Ortaca district, people puzzle at the sight of a strange entrepreneur going up and down the streets in a truck carrying his wares.

Mehmet Ermumcu, from Burdur’s Gölhisar neighborhood, is a mobile gravedigger, selling gravestones made out of a special stone named limra. He designs the gravestones in his Gölhisar atelier and puts samples behind his truck to promote them to Muğla residents. Using this strategy, Ermumcu has sold 1,500 tombstones in two years. He also wanders around Burdur and other nearby cities with the models he designs for graves.

People cannot understand what he sells until they get close to Ermumcu’s truck and read the sign on it: "We make gravestones in every size with the durable and natural limra stone. We accept orders."

Strong gravestones
Ermumcu is happy with his sales. Prices range from 400 to 500 Turkish Liras and he gives a 20 percent discount to customers who pay in cash. "The gravestones are made with the world-famous Burdur marble," he says. "There is no chance of them being demolished or bending to the side. We guarantee each one from deformation for an indefinite period of time and take back those that are not liked."
