ANKARA - The Health Ministry invited the governors of all provinces for a meeting today to inform them about the global spread of swine flu and measures to be taken to prevent its outbreak, the private channel NTV reported yesterday.
There have been no confirmed cases of the H1N1 virus, or swine flu, in Turkey, which has taken precautions at airports and ports to prevent the virus’ entry into the country. A strategy is expected to be adopted at the meeting, which will be led by Health Minister Recep Akdağ, to coordinate the state institutions to stop the possible spread of the virus, reported NTV.
According to the World Health Organization the virus has killed 53 people worldwide so far.
