ISTANBUL - Have you had a grape leaf dolma moment when you tried to roll the ubiquitous rice-filled "sarmas’ as thin as your mother-in-law or neighbor? And everything fell apart. Food engineer, Dr. Teslime Mahmutoğlu, now gives regular culinary courses on the Asian side of Istanbul. Teslime, a graduate of Middle East Technical University in Food Engineering, lives as an expat in Warsaw, Poland, working for an international food certification company.
She spends half of each month in Istanbul teaching parents, children and other interested adults how to delight the palate with Turkish gourmet menus full of distinct flavors and esthetic interest. In Ankara, Sima Aytemiz offers cooking and baking courses specially designed for kids. At Little Chefs Club, which she founded in Ankara, she bakes and prepares cookies, cakes, brownies, cupcakes, etc. with kids. Aytemiz also caters kids’ birthday parties and is available to bake with children at special parties.
