--"WE WILL NOT BE OBEDIENT"
The chairman of Turkey's Dogan Holding responded to Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan's claims and said "if we are expected to be obedient, we will not be obedient," adding that the group was being blackmailed "The understanding of obeying does not exist in our media organs we do not obey. I pray for Mr. Erdogan to digest the democracy, the free press and deal with the greater issues of country. We will help him as much as we can in this mission," Dogan said.

--4 CASES IN 2 MONTHS
Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan is nervous these days since a series of scandals --in which his Justice and Development Party (AKP) members or some figures whose names have been mentioned with AKP, were involved-- have become very hot issues.

AKP Deputy Chairman Saban Disli resigned over a land scandal. Under the Deniz Feneri e.V. case, which is described as the biggest donation scandal in Germany, an investigation into Zahid Akman, chairman of the Supreme Board of Radio and Television (RTUK), has been reportedly launched. Zoning scandals in the southeastern province of Gaziantep and an arrest warrant, issued for AKP provincial chairman in another southeastern province of Batman, were two other scandals.

--SCHOOL BELLS RINGING FOR 14 MILLION STUDENTS

Some 14 million primary and high school students, as well as 662,000 teachers begin the new education year this morning. Over 165 million books will be handed out to students for free.

The reply from Aydin Dogan to Erdogan's threat: Explain immediately what you know. Aydin Dogan called on the prime minister, who threatened him. "Erdogan wants to suppress the media, which do not support him. But there is no obeisance culture in our group," Dogan said.

"Now, positive developments will occur. The parties have the necessary will and willingness. Turkish Foreign Minister Ali Babacan and I will meet again in the coming days," he said.

Nalbandian said that President Sargsyan would pay a visit to Turkey to watch the World Cup qualifier between Turkish and Armenian national teams in Istanbul on Oct. 14.

--SIX MARTYRS IN HAKKARI
A lieutenant, two soldiers and three village guards have been killed in a clash with a group of PKK terrorists. The clash erupted in Semdinli town of the southeastern province of Hakkari. A large-scale operation is under way in the region to capture PKK terrorists who managed to flee from the area.

--"I TOOK RISK AND WENT TO THE PLACE FAMOUS WITH ITS ASSASSINATIONS"
President Abdullah Gul talked about his trip to the Armenian capital Yerevan. "Sargsyan did not even mention the word 'genocide'. Yes, I took a risk. In the end, we went to a place famous for its assassinations. But we have to be brave. Turkey's image has grown stronger," Gul said.

--FIGHTING IN SEMDINLI: 6 SOLDIERS KILLED
Three Turkish soldiers, including a first lieutenant, and three village guards were killed in a clash in Semdinli town of the southeastern province of Hakkari. Two soldiers were wounded in the clash.

-- ERDOGAN WANTS EVERYBODY TO BE LIKE SABAH
Turkish Prime Minister Erdogan had launched a war on broadcasters and newspapers reporting on the Deniz Feneri fraud case. He wants all media organs to be like Sabah, which is under his control. Sabah only publishes the defense made by the accused in the case and not the accusations against them.

--GREEK CYPRIOT STUDENTS TO LEARN ABOUT ATROCITY AGAINST TURKS
Education Minister Andreas Demetriou of the Greek Cypriot administration said that the history textbooks describing Turks as occupiers would be changed. His statement triggered arguments in the Greek Cypriot administration. While the opposition parties reacted to the education minister, Cyprus Mail newspaper reported that it was not correct to hide atrocity against Turks during the 1963 events. The newspaper also wrote that the two nations could not unite by hiding the truths.

A lieutenant, two soldiers and three village guards were killed in the clash. A large-scale operation is under way in the region to capture PKK terrorists who managed to flee from the area.

Three village guards were killed when PKK terrorists opened fire on security forces in Semdinli town of the southeastern province of Hakkari. A large-scale operation was launched to capture the terrorists. Clash erupted between security forces and the terrorists. A first lieutenant and two soldiers were killed and two troops were injured.

--LEADERS REJECT BABACAN
Foreign Minister Ali Babacan has begun holding talks with leaders of the political parties having seats at the parliament about the draft National Program including several arrangements such as removal of state incentives and permission to the EU companies to bid for public tenders. Leaders of the Republican People's Party (CHP) and the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) rejected Babacan's request for appointment.

--PERPETRUAL CONTACT WITH ARMENIA
During President Abdullah Gul's visit to Armenia on Saturday, the parties have decided to initiate a "full normalization process" in the bilateral relations. Accordingly, consultation mechanisms between Turkey and Armenia will be increased. Talks will be raised to ministerial level. The two presidents will meet again during the United Nations Summit in the coming days.

RADIKAL
--"WE ARE HALFWAY THROUGH"
Foreign Minister Eduard Nalbandian of Armenia said that they completed the half of the road after Turkish President Abdullah Gul and Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan took the initial steps. "We exprerienced a very important, historic day on Saturday. The first step was the half of the road. It was taken by the president. Now, they have given directions to their ministers for the second half of the road," he said.

Nalbandian said that Turkish Foreign Minister Ali Babacan and he would meet again in the coming days. He also extended full support to Turkey's proposal for a Caucasian Platform.

--"I COULD NOT MISS SUCH AN OPPORTUNITY"
President Abdullah Gul said about his visit to Armenia on Sept. 6, "I could not miss such an opportunity. If I had not gone to Armenia, the world would have accused me of being timid."

Soccer game between Turkey and Armenia that President Abdullah Gul watched in Armenian capital Yerevan was on the top of the world's agenda. Turkish-Armenian brotherhood in the grandstand was on the headlines of the international press. Gul's visit was described as a historic step and newspapers said that a soccer game gathered the leaders.

--BELGIUM FEAR WEDNESDAY
Belgians were daunted by the 2-0 Turkish victory over Armenia in 2010 World Cup qualifiers. "Wednesday's game (between Turkey and Belgium) will be a challenging one. Turkey has globally known stars. We have to do our best," Belgium coach Rene Vandereycken, whose team defeated Estonia 3-2 in their first match in the group, said.
